Introduction to Mountaineering on Mer de Glace in Chamonix

From June to September, join a certified guide on a 1-day introduction to mountaineering and discover the joys of this exhilarating activity on the amazing Mer de Glace in Chamonix.

The adventure begins in the morning, at the Montenvers station in Chamonix from where you will take the train with your guide to reach the glacier.

Once there, equipped with high mountain equipment: harness, crampons attached to high mountain boots and ice ax, you will begin an exciting glacier hike.

During the day, the guide will explain basic mountaineering techniques (such as using ropes and an ice ax, walking with crampons, etc.) and will introduce you to some of the most legendary peaks in the Alps (Les Drus, Les Grandes Jorasses, the Aiguille Verte, Le Mont Blanc du Tacul, etc.) which border the Mer de Glace.

If you wish, the guide can even take you up a wall of ice.

This program is an ideal introduction to high mountains for beginners who wish to start out mountaineering, or for anyone who would like to experience an amazing glacier hike in complete safety, with the help and supervision of an experienced guide.

The price is 88 € per person for a group of 4. It includes the guide fee.

The fee does not include the round trip by train or equipment rental (mountain boots, harness, crampons and ice ax) which you can hire at one of the many shops in Chamonix.
